Howdy, my first post here, I'm getting straight into it.
Ok, after some wonderful advice I received mid last week - I started to look at the way I work in a different way. In a nutshell, I try and squeeze so many things onto the one canvas without thinking of a focal point. Composition has always been something I need to worker harder at, but suddenly I had a moment when talking to this person, where I got it. It sounds easy now of course, but sometimes you need someone to tell you the obvious. LESS is often MORE (but the less has to be really good). I really tried hard to make this work for me and produced a painting I am very happy with. LESS is MORE (and 'take you time', always hard for me too) were the lessons of the week. Why is it that even though you read book after book, and peruse lots of inspirational and thought provoking websites from people who are kind enough to impart advice, it still requires your own journey, mistakes etc. to 'get it'.
